How to set up school email on your mobile device

The details needed to set up school email are as follows, with step by step instructions for native email clients on iOS devices (iPhones) and Android devices further below here.

Account type: ‘Exchange’ or ‘Microsoft Exchange Active Sync’
Server: mail.cambsed.net
Domain: cambsed
Username*: jbloggs.chv (First initial, Surname followed by school suffix of .chv)

*This may need entering in the form of ‘cambsed\jbloggs.chv’ where there is no separate domain field.

You will additionally be able to add items to your school calendar, which is labelled with the description given above (So perhaps just ‘School’ would have been a better choice!). Any items will synchronise with the calendar showing in the web based OWA client.

Should you lose control of your (password protected!) device, if you log onto the web based OWA client and select ‘options’ / ‘Mobile Phones’ you will see the phone you have set up to use your email, and have the option to ‘Wipe Device’ – this command should erase all data on the mobile device including all synchronised information and personal settings, which returns the device to the original factory settings. By completing these steps it also gives the county ICT service the ability to do the same.
