School Council
Samuel Pepys School council meet every half term to gather pupils views and contribute to how our school is run. We are elected by our fellow pupils to represent views and opinions and ensure that all pupils have a voice. The School Council can also take forward projects on behalf of the pupils and be involved in the School Improvement Plan, offering feedback to the Leadership Team and Governors and being involved in the interviewing of new staff. We use symbols and photos to help us make choices and decisions
The School Council will:
- Represent all pupils and include the views of as many pupils as possible
- Put pupil voice at the heart of learning and school life
- Take time to listen to all pupils and communicate their views
- Feed back to pupils about what happened about their views
- Make things happen!
The School Council has made a significant impact upon school life through:
- Being involved in the recruitment of new staff and trainee teachers
- Sharing lots of exciting ideas and raising money for Jeans for Genes and Children in Need
- Gathering the views of pupils to inform our school improvement plan “What could be better?”
- Offering feedback on changes within our school, “How is it better?”
- Gathering views of pupils on changes to our curriculum
