School Direct Training Programme

Do you have a special interest in teaching children or young people with severe or profound special educational needs in a special school setting?

Cambridgeshire Special Schools are offering 4 places based in St Neots or Linton (near Cambridge) which will include in addition some significant experience in local mainstream primary schools. Some of the training may take place at the Bedford premises of the Pilgrim Partnership, our partners in this Initial Teacher Training provision.  Upon successful completion of the course you will be recommended for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and there is an expectation that you might be employed within a Cambridgeshire all-age special school.

These places are offered under the School Direct (tuition fee) programme and for 2013 entry are subject to fees of £9000. Fee-loans for this course are available from Student Finance England (better known as the Student Loan Company) and bursaries are given for honours degrees (£4000 for a 2:1 and £9000 for a 1st).

All applications must be made on line http://education .gov.uk/get-into-teaching/teacher-training-options/school-based-training/school-direct.aspx  For your personal statement please describe briefly your reasons for wanting to teach in a special school including your understanding and relevant experience of the educational needs of children with learning difficulties.

Further information about our school can be seen on this website. The headteacher will be pleased to respond to any queries.
