The free ‘dragon dictation’ iPad software now (currently) works on the school network (it already worked on most other networks).
The way the software works is by sending the recording of your speech to their own servers and sending the text back – this typically happens so quickly it feels almost instant!
However, the software maker varies the addressing used to contact their servers from time to time, when this occurs the product is likely to stop working on the school network.
If this occurs we need to raise new further change request to virgin media via the ICT service – this could have a lead time of up to two weeks depending on when the change is noticed after we submit a ticket.
Currently, it’s not likely we will be able to use Apple’s own dictation system within school on our iPads – this maybe possible in future with some county infrastructure changes.
