Moving photos from iPads…

You can easily copy photos* from iPads (excluding the MiLE room iPad) to the ‘Temp Share (V:)‘ drive on the server without using the file explorer application or needing to log on by using the following steps – see the video below.

  • Select your photos (without selecting any videos)
  • Press the share icon (square with an upward arrow on the top left of the screen)
  • Press the print icon
  • Press the printer and select ‘Save to temp share’ (if not already selected).
  • Press print and you’re done!

* Note: this will only work with photos, it will not work with videos.

MiLE room monitor / projector.

The computer in the MiLE room has both a flat panel monitor and a projector attached. By default it has the desktop on the monitor ‘extended’ to have further empty desktop space showing on the projector.  So, when using ‘Room director’ for example it shows the program on the monitor desktop and the scenario to the projector.

You can change this to have both the monitor and the projector displaying, or ‘duplicating’ the same desktop, by using these steps.

Right clicking on the desktop will present the menu shown on the left, select screen resolution will open the screen resolution control panel shown below.

Pressing the ‘identify’ button will briefly overlay large numbers to confirm which desktop is which.


  • Select the 2nd monitor by clicking on it (or from the Display dropdown box).
  • Click the ‘Multiple displays’ dropdown box, and select Duplicate desktop on 1 and 2.
  • After making the selection, press Apply to make the changes;

  • The screens may briefly blank, and you should be presented with matching desktops along with a popup that requires confirmation of the changes within about 15 seconds – press ‘Keep changes’;

You can now close the control panel.

To change back to having an extended desktop, the procedure is similar – just select ‘Extend desktop to this display’ and again apply, then confirm the changes.




YouTube asking for Flash Player issue

This issue has been resolved, if you reboot your computer it should pick up the required change quicker.

If you have left the Active X Filtering enabled then please ensure you disable it again to enable flash to work.

To check / change the setting if you click the Tools ‘cog’ icon that’s near the top right of the browser, and select ‘Safety’ and then ‘Active X Filtering’  – it’s correctly disabled in the image below, it would show a tick if it was enabled and clicking the setting toggles the two.YouTubeInstallFlashCog


Printing from iPads!

We can now print from iPads to the reception printer.

  1. Open the app you want to print from. Find the print option by tapping the app’s share icon ( sharearrow or share ) or settings icon ( settingsor wrench). If you can’t find the print option, check the app’s User Guide or Help section. (Not all apps support AirPrint).
  2. Tap (print) or Print.
  3. Choose printer (tap on select printer as needed) and opt for ‘RICOH MP C3503’
  4. Choose the number of copies
  5. Tap ‘Print’

While printing you can typically watch your print job(s) or cancel them via the App Switcher.  Double-click the iPads home button and tap the printer icon.

(Printing from iPads usually requires a special ‘Airprint’ network enabled printer, which the Ricoh printers we have are not – we are using some software to emulate this, which seems to work reasonably well).

Unfortunately, printing is still just as costly!
